Breastfeeding Support Services
Many mothers experience challenges and difficulties when breastfeeding their baby, but luckily with support, it is very possible to reach your breastfeeding goals! Whether your baby is 2 hours old or 2 years old, I can provide evidence-based support to help you get through whatever problems you and your nursling may be experiencing.
My services include several options for the breastfeeding mother. As a breastfeeding mother myself, I know how important it is to be able to access professional support, and I understand as a professional of the importance to meet my clients where they are, wherever they may be in their breastfeeding journey. I offer the following services at affordable and flexible fees.
Prenatal consultations/classes:
I can meet with pregnant women and their partners to discuss breastfeeding benefits, techniques, and other evidence-based topics such as skin-to-skin, after birth that can often help breastfeeding get off to a better start. Other topics incude recognizing common newborn behavior of the breastfed newborn, pumping and returning work or school, and starting solids. I offer classes with refreshments and a free gift. Classes are $25 per couple/$15 per single parent. Private prenatal consultations are $35 and last about an hour.
In-hospital consults
I can meet with a mother/baby dyad in the early days postpartum to help with latch, jaundice, positioning, supply, and more! I can visit a mother right in her hospital room if needed. In-hospital consults are $50 and last about 1-1/2 hours.
In-home consults
I can travel directly to a mother’s home to meet her in her own comfortable environment to help with any aspect of breastfeeding at any time in the nursing relationship, no matter how old the child may be. Home consults are $50 and last 1-2 hours.
*Should the appointment require me to travel in excess of 25 miles from the area between Asheville and Sylva, a $5 per 20 miles charge will be assessed.
**NO mother is ever denied services for her inability to pay the fees. My number one goal is to ensure that moms and babies meet their own breastfeeding goals. If the fee is a problem, please let me know so we can discuss payment options. Clients can also submit a copy of their invoice to their insurance provider to be reimbursed for fees paid, although some carriers will not reimburse for my services.
